International media reported that at least eight people were killed and 25 others injured after a train collided with a public bus in Bangkok. According to Reuters, the incident occurred on Saturday, May 16. Police and rescue officials said a major fire broke out after the train struck the bus, spreading to several nearby vehicles. Firefighters and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and used water hoses in an effort to contain the flames. At the same time, emergency personnel began rescue operations to pull the injured from the wreckage of the vehicles. Authorities said the fire is now under control, while emergency crews continue cooling operations, gas evacuation measures, and searches for possible additional victims. The incident occurred in one of Bangkok’s busy districts and caused major traffic disruption. Thai authorities have not yet announced the exact cause of the crash, and an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The accident has once again raised concerns over public transport safety and the safety of rail-road crossings in Thailand.
