Donald Trump has said the United States does not need China’s cooperation to end the war with Iran or reduce Tehran’s influence over the Strait of Hormuz. Ahead of his trip to Beijing and meeting with Xi Jinping, Trump reportedly said Washington would prevail in the conflict “whether through peaceful means or otherwise.” The Iran-Israel war and the Strait of Hormuz crisis are among the main topics in talks between U.S. and Chinese leaders. The strategic waterway, through which around one-fifth of the world’s oil passes, has become a key source of regional tensions and energy concerns in recent weeks. Trump also stressed that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon remains his top priority, despite ongoing economic pressure from the conflict.
