Kabul to Host International Traditional Martial Arts Competition

Afghanistan will host a major international traditional martial arts competition featuring Sambo and Kurash in Kabul next Thursday. The event will bring together 60 athletes from seven countries across the region. Mohammad Naeem Wardak, Deputy Minister for Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Taliban, confirmed the announcement on X, stating that alongside the international competition, domestic events in Sambo, Kurash, and other traditional sports will also be held with the participation of 100 Afghan athletes. The authorities have described the event as a “new and positive step” toward advancing Afghanistan’s sporting development.
