Amnesty International Warns of Legal Risks in Continued Military Cooperation with Israel

Amnesty International has issued a warning regarding the potential legal consequences of ongoing military cooperation with Israel, stating that such actions could amount to complicity in violations of international law. Erika Guevara-Rosas, a senior figure at the organization, said that Israel has been responsible for “systematic violations” of international law in multiple areas, including Gaza Strip and the West Bank. According to Guevara-Rosas, the continuation of military partnerships increases the risk of states being implicated in “international crimes.” She emphasized that governments must take concrete and decisive measures to halt such cooperation. She also called on Italy to support the suspension of the cooperation agreement between the European Union and Israel, noting that more than one million European citizens have reportedly backed this demand. Guevara-Rosas concluded by stressing that expressions of concern alone are insufficient, and that countries must adopt effective and tangible actions to put an end to human rights violations.
