Australia has appointed General Susan Coyle as the country’s first female Army Chief, marking a historic milestone. The government said she will take office in July, replacing General Simon Stuart. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the move unprecedented in the army’s 125-year history. Coyle, 55, has served in the military since 1987 and held several senior roles. The appointment comes as Australia seeks to increase female representation in its armed forces amid ongoing concerns over discrimination and harassment.
