Trump Warns China of Serious Consequences Over Possible Arms Support to Iran

Donald Trump has warned that China would face “serious consequences” if it supplies weapons to Iran. Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump said, “If China does that, it will face major problems.” The warning follows reports suggesting that China is considering sending air defence systems to Iran in the coming weeks. The remarks come as China and Russia reportedly vetoed a proposal at the United Nations Security Council related to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Analysts say Trump’s warning appears aimed at deterring any potential military support from Beijing to Tehran. So far, neither Iran nor China has publicly responded to the claims. A U.S. annual intelligence threat assessment released in March also highlighted cooperation among China, Russia, Iran and North Korea, noting that their economic and trade ties have helped Tehran and Moscow withstand sanctions, although the level of cooperation was described as limited.
