U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the crew member of a U.S. fighter jet who had gone missing in Iran has been rescued. Writing on his social media platform on Sunday, April 5, Trump said the American service member was injured but is expected to receive medical treatment soon. According to him, the officer’s position had been monitored around the clock, and dozens of equipped aircraft were deployed to the area to bring him back. He also claimed, “The fact that we were able to carry out the operation without even a single American being killed shows that we have achieved complete air superiority over Iranian airspace.” These remarks come after earlier reports that two U.S. fighter jets had been shot down in Iran and the Persian Gulf. According to those reports, two crew members had been rescued while another had been reported missing.
