Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has stated that several major industrial and infrastructure facilities in Iran were targeted in recent Israeli attacks, adding that Tehran will impose a “heavy cost” in response. According to Araghchi, Israel targeted two large steel factories, a power plant, and some civilian nuclear facilities. He said the attacks were carried out with alleged coordination from the United States and stressed that the action contradicts the deadline set by the U.S. President for continuing the diplomatic path, warning that Tehran will respond. At the same time, Israeli media reported that the Israeli military, under orders from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz, carried out strikes on infrastructure and steel industries in Iran. The Israeli military said evacuation warnings were issued for industrial areas in Arak, a city located near a heavy-water research reactor. It added that the bombing did not cause radioactive contamination or injuries. In addition, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran’s Shahid Rezaei-Nejad yellowcake production facility in Ardakan, Yazd, was hit, but no increase in radiation levels outside the facility has been reported so far. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi emphasized the need for military restraint and the prevention of further escalation to avoid nuclear risks.
