Anwar Ibrahim has announced that after talks with Iran, Turkey Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to national television on Thursday 26 March, Anwar Ibrahim said he held discussions with Masoud Pezeshkian and leaders from Egypt, Turkey, and other Gulf states. He added that the process of freeing Malaysian tankers and their crews has begun so they can resume their journey. However, he warned that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz will affect food supplies and cause price increases, also impacting fertilizer, oil, and gas. Since the current conflict began on 28 February 2026, Iran has restricted shipping through the strategic waterway, which carries 20 percent of the world’s exported oil and around 35 percent of liquefied gas.
