Abbas Araghchi has stated that Iran is not seeking a temporary ceasefire but instead supports a “complete and permanent end” to the ongoing conflict. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Araghchi said: “We do not want a ceasefire because this scenario could be repeated again; our goal is a full and lasting end to the war.” He also accused the United States of entering the conflict based on what he described as a “miscalculation,” claiming it was done to encourage Israel. He added that those who had previously demanded Iran’s unconditional surrender are now forced to seek assistance from rivals to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Regarding the reported condition of Mojtaba Khamenei, Araghchi said that, to his knowledge, he had only sustained minor injuries, remains in good health, and continues to oversee the situation.
