Rahmatullah Nabil, former head of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security, has condemned the recent airstrike on a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul, describing it as a “clear violation of human principles” and an “indelible stain.” In a post on the social media platform X, Nabil stated that targeting patients and civilians cannot be justified under the pretext of “security operations” or “counterterrorism.” He described the attack as a blatant disregard for human life. He further emphasized that the killing of civilians does not bring security, but instead deepens hatred, mistrust, and instability in the region. Nabil called on the international community not to remain silent and to hold those responsible accountable. In the latter part of his statement, he suggested that, if there were genuine political will, targets related to such actions could be addressed outside Afghanistan, particularly within Pakistan. His remarks come amid continuing reactions to the Kabul attack and growing concerns over escalating regional tensions.
