The film “One Battle After Another,” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, won the Best Picture award at the 2026 Academy Awards. During the ceremony, Anderson received a total of six awards. Jessie Buckley, Michael B. Jordan, and Jacob Elordi were also among the notable winners at this year’s Oscars. The film is described as a big-budget action-comedy thriller inspired by the novel Vineland written by Thomas Pynchon. In his first speech while accepting the award on Oscar night, Anderson said: “I wrote this film for my children to apologize for the chaos we have left in this world and are passing on to them.” He also expressed hope that the younger generation would be able to bring back “common sense and decency” to society. Anderson had previously been nominated for Academy Awards for films such as Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, and Phantom Thread. Meanwhile, the Best Supporting Actor award was presented to Sean Penn, marking his first Oscar win for acting. The Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars, is one of the most prestigious honors in the global film industry. It is held annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the United States to recognize outstanding achievements in cinema.
