International media report that the United States has announced a $10 million reward for information on ten senior officials in Iran, including the country’s new religious leader. According to the reports, Washington said anyone providing useful information about these individuals could also receive an opportunity to travel to the United States. Those named reportedly include Mojtaba Khamenei, Esmail Khatib, senior adviser Ali Larijani, as well as a military deputy and several other senior military officials. At the same time, the United States Department of Defense said the current religious leader was reportedly wounded in recent attacks and that his latest statement was released only in written form. Following recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran, Washington had also stated that the authority of the country’s religious leadership would not last long without U.S. approval.
