Iran’s armed forces launched a new wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and several Gulf countries, according to regional reports. Israeli authorities said most of the projectiles were intercepted by air-defense systems or landed in uninhabited areas. The The Times of Israel reported that several groups of missiles were launched from Iran, prompting the Israeli military to activate its interception systems. Journalists from Agence France-Presse also reported air-raid sirens sounding in Jerusalem along with explosions heard in the area. Israel’s Channel 12 reported that several people were injured near Tel Aviv after Iranian missiles struck the area. Elsewhere in the region, the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia said it intercepted seven ballistic missiles and seven drones. In Kuwait, four drones were intercepted while another drone crashed. Air-raid sirens were also activated in Bahrain. Earlier, Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, said American forces were prepared to carry out what he described as the most intense airstrikes against Iran and could precisely hit designated targets. Hegseth added that Iran’s naval forces as well as its air-defense and missile systems could be targeted, stressing that United States operations would continue until the perceived threat is eliminated.
