Several sources have reported that a Pakistani delegation has arrived in Kabul, Afghanistan, to hold talks. According to available information, the delegation is led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a prominent religious and political figure from Pakistan. The delegation is expected to begin the first round of discussions aimed at easing the ongoing tensions and clashes between Pakistan and the Taliban. The visit comes as clashes between Taliban fighters and Pakistani forces have continued for nearly two weeks. The Taliban announced the start of retaliatory operations against Pakistani forces after what they said was a Pakistani airstrike on a house in Jalalabad on January 22. According to the group, the strike killed 21 civilians, including women and children. During the recent clashes between Taliban fighters and Pakistani troops, both sides have claimed to have inflicted casualties on each other. Pakistan has also carried out airstrikes in several Afghan provinces, which reportedly caused civilian casualties. According to a report by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Pakistani strikes between February 26 and March 5 killed 56 Afghan civilians and wounded 129 others. The report said that about 55 percent of the victims were women and children.
