On International Women’s Day, women in Afghanistan and abroad shared protest videos and hashtags condemning the policies of the Taliban and calling for the recognition of gender apartheid in the country. They said their struggle will continue until equality, justice, and women’s freedom are achieved. The United Nations again urged the Taliban to lift the ban on Afghan female staff and contractors working for the UN, calling the restriction unprecedented in its history. Meanwhile, Richard Bennett said Afghan women continue to demand their rights and dignity despite severe restrictions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain also condemned the repression of women, particularly in Afghanistan and Iran.
