Yalda Hakim Wins Royal Television Society’s Presenter of the Year Award

Yalda Hakim, an Afghan-born Australian journalist and host of the international news program The World with Yalda Hakim on Sky News, has won the Presenter of the Year award from the Royal Television Society. The judging panel said Hakim had an exceptional year, praising her calm delivery, sharp insight, and strong on-screen presence. Hakim has previously worked with several international media organizations and has received multiple journalism honors, including Australia’s Young Journalist of the Year award and the United Nations’ Media Peace Award. Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Hakim moved to Australia with her family in 1986. Her first major video report, titled Yalda in Kabul, was produced during a visit to the Afghan capital in 2008 for the Dateline program on SBS. Several Afghan figures, including former Afghan president Hamid Karzai, described her achievement as inspiring and congratulated Hakim as well as Afghan media professionals on the recognition.
