KABUL: The Taliban announced in a statement that an alleged attempt by the Pakistani military to carry out an airstrike on Kabul was thwarted by Afghan forces. According to the statement, security forces acted swiftly and prevented the attack from being carried out. The Taliban said the situation is fully under control and security in Kabul has been ensured. Authorities urged residents not to be concerned and to ignore rumors, adding that the sounds of heavy weapons heard in parts of the city are part of defensive measures aimed at repelling potential threats. Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, stated: “Our defensive forces, with full vigilance, foiled the enemy’s attempt to target Kabul. The situation is completely under control. We ask the public not to pay attention to rumors and to continue their normal lives.”
