Conflicting claims over fate of Iran’s Supreme Leader

WASHINGTON/TEHRAN: Donald Trump has claimed on the social media platform Truth Social that Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, along with several senior officials of the Islamic Republic, was killed in a strike carried out in coordination with Israel. Trump described the development as a “historic opportunity for the Iranian people” and also made remarks regarding the possible granting of immunity to certain Iranian military personnel. In response, Fars News Agency rejected the claim as baseless, citing informed sources who said reports of Khamenei’s death are false and part of what they described as U.S. psychological warfare. The sources stressed that the claim is untrue and intended to exert psychological pressure on Iranian society. Further details will be shared as official information becomes available.
