KABUL: The Japanese embassy has announced that it has signed an aid agreement worth $2.08 million with the World Bank. The embassy stated on its X page that the funds will be used through the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF) to support the livelihoods of those in need, particularly women and youth. The Japanese embassy in Afghanistan emphasized that Japan stands alongside Afghans and aims to improve the lives of impoverished communities. According to sources, Japan is also working to provide income and livelihood opportunities to poor Afghans. This aid announcement comes amid growing concerns about poverty in Afghanistan, where thousands of Afghan migrants are forcibly returned from Pakistan and Iran daily. Just yesterday, 698 migrant families, totaling 3,463 individuals, were forcibly repatriated from Iran and Pakistan to Afghanistan, and they require immediate assistance. The United Nations has also expressed concern about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
