KANDAHAR: A fire broke out at a carpet market in Kandahar city yesterday, causing financial losses. Asadullah Jamshid, a spokesperson of the Taliban’s security command in Kandahar, said that the cause of the fire was a short circuit. According to local reports, Taliban officials indicated that the fire resulted in financial losses amounting to 28 million Afghanis, while preventing damage estimated at 150 million Afghanis. The fire at the carpet market was extinguished approximately two hours after it started.
