KABUL: Amrullah Saleh, the former first vice president of Afghanistan, in reaction to the Pakistani officials’ claim that the main planner of the February 6, 2026, terrorist attack in Islamabad has been arrested, stated that if the Pakistani government’s claim is based on credible evidence, it would provide “strong and undeniable proof” regarding the attack. He emphasized that such developments should not be limited to media statements but require real security actions. In a post on his X account today, he insisted that Pakistan has one of the world’s largest armies, and if the perpetrators of the attack on innocent worshippers in Islamabad have been identified, whether domestically or abroad, the army should be used to pursue and hold them accountable. Amrullah Saleh remarked, “The response should not be confined to tweets and statements; show your anger with actions, not tweets.” He also raised the question of what the presence of a large army is worth if decisive action is not taken against such incidents. So far, the Pakistani government has not officially responded to Saleh’s comments. Security sources have also not released complete information regarding the identity of the arrested individual and other details of the case.
