KABUL: Reports indicate that the Taliban have appointed Mufti Noor Ahmad Noor as the Charge d’Affaires for Afghanistan’s embassy in New Delhi. The report states that Noor, who previously served as the Deputy Head of the Political Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has arrived in New Delhi. According to Indian media, India agreed to accept this diplomat in October of last year, during the visit of the Taliban’s Foreign Minister to India. Noor accompanied Amir Khan Mutaqi during this trip. Previously, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had agreed to accept Taliban diplomats for Afghanistan’s embassy during a meeting with Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mutaqi in New Delhi. The Taliban had also introduced a Chargé d’Affaires for their embassy in New Delhi in April 2023; however, this attempt was thwarted by embassy staff when they attempted to enter the premises.
