More than 30 Afghan migrants detained in Turkey

ISTANBUL: Various media outlets in Turkey have reported that police in Diyarbakir have identified and arrested Afghan migrants who were hiding in a sewage tanker during an operation. According to the reports, the detained migrants were transferred to foreign nationals’ reception centers after undergoing health examinations. In addition to the illegal Afghan migrants, five individuals have been arrested on charges of organizing human trafficking. The Turkish immigration authority recently announced that last year, 42,000 illegal Afghan migrants were apprehended in the country, marking the highest number of foreign nationals arrested in Turkey.
