KABUL: Naseer Ahmad Faiq, Afghanistan’s representative at the United Nations, has accused the Taliban of propaganda and described 2025 as a year marked by setbacks, political failures, and diplomatic losses for them. Faiq stated that the Taliban once again failed to gain international legitimacy during this period. He claimed that they have also lost their unofficial and diplomatic supporters. He characterized Russia’s recognition of the Taliban as temporary, while describing the ongoing partnership with India as “instrumental behavior,” indicating that it does not embody any form of legitimacy or genuine support. Faiq portrayed the Taliban’s governance within international institutions, particularly in human rights organizations, as caricatured, labeling it a bloodless political satire of the 21st century. In his remarks, he referred to the Taliban regime as a “manual bomb,” suggesting that no one is willing to take responsibility for its explosion. According to him, it would be better if this bomb were defused; otherwise, neighboring countries should prepare for the ensuing explosion.
