HERAT: Local sources in Herat report that Taliban officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice arrested a girl approximately 15 days ago and, after several days of detention, transferred her to prison. This occurred despite her family’s efforts to secure her release. According to sources, the reason for her arrest was her teaching of mathematics and several other subjects at an educational center. In recent days, several other girls have also been detained on various pretexts, many of whom have not committed any legal offenses. This incident has raised concerns over educational restrictions and the pressure on teachers and students in Herat. Reports indicate that over the past four years, the Taliban have arrested, tortured, and imprisoned numerous girls and women under various pretenses.
