KABUL: The organization “Afghanistan Free from Polio” has announced that an oral polio vaccination campaign will begin in the eastern provinces of the country starting this Sunday. According to the organization’s statement, the campaign will take place in the districts of Surkh Rod, Behsood, Khogyani, Batikot, and the city of Jalalabad in Nangarhar province, as well as in the centers of Laghman and Kunar provinces. “Afghanistan Free from Polio” emphasized that the oral vaccine, in addition to the injectable polio vaccine, strengthens children’s immunity against the virus and urged parents to prepare their children for vaccination. According to the World Health Organization, two positive polio cases have been reported this year in Badghis and Helmand provinces.
