U.S. Navy F/A-18 fighter Jet crashes

WASHINGTON: According to reports from U.S. media, an F/A-18 fighter jet belonging to the Navy crashed during a training mission, and the pilot was successfully rescued. CBS reported that the incident occurred on Wednesday night in the waters off the coast of Virginia. The pilot managed to eject from the aircraft before it went down. A spokesperson for the U.S. Navy confirmed the crash, stating that the pilot was rescued about an hour and a half after the incident and was transported to a hospital. The wreckage of the fighter jet has not yet been recovered, and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash has begun. This particular aircraft was part of the Navy’s Strike Fighter Squadron 83, based at the Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia. Reports indicate that this marks the sixth crash of U.S. military aircraft in the past ten months.
