WASHINGTON: Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, has written a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin urging him to “take action for the protection of children and future generations around the world.” According to Fox News, Donald Trump personally delivered the letter to Putin during their meeting in Alaska on Thursday. The meeting lasted nearly three hours but ended without an agreement on a ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict. Fox News published the full text of the letter on Saturday, noting that Putin read it aloud to delegations from both countries immediately after receiving it. In part of the letter, Melania Trump stated: “Every child has dreams of peace in their hearts, whether born in a remote village or in the heart of a big city. They dream of love, hope, and safety from danger.” She continued, “As parents, we have a duty to nurture the hopes of the next generation, and as leaders, we have a responsibility to support children. We must build a world filled with dignity for all—a world where every child grows up in peace.” Addressing Putin, she added: “Mr. Putin, you can personally bring back children’s laughter. By protecting their innocence, you will serve not only Russia but all of humanity.” Melania Trump concluded by emphasizing: “Such an idea transcends any political or territorial divisions. You can realize this vision with just one signature. The time has come.”
