KABUL: Reporters Without Borders has condemned the recent arrests of journalists by Taliban intelligence forces as an intolerable crackdown and has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all journalists. The organization emphasized that these actions are part of a campaign to eliminate independent journalism. In a statement, it was noted that forced confessions and the intimidation of journalists violate freedom of expression and the right to a fair trial, calling for an immediate halt to these repressive measures. The organization has also urged the international community to respond seriously and to return confiscated media equipment. Over the past 15 days, at least four journalists have been arrested in Kabul, raising concerns regarding press freedom.
