KABUL: Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of supporting the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Syria during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Kremlin, announced on Monday, that this call was the second similar conversation in the past week. The Kremlin’s statement indicated that Putin stressed the need to maintain internal political stability in Syria while respecting the rights and legitimate interests of all ethnic and religious groups in the country. Additionally, in light of increasing tensions between Iran and Israel, Russia has expressed its readiness to make all efforts to facilitate negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Both leaders agreed to continue discussions on current regional and international issues, particularly focusing on the situation in Syria. It is noteworthy that their previous call also addressed the tense situation in the Middle East and the Syrian dossier.
