The International Football Federation (FIFA) has announced the creation of an Afghan women’s football team in exile to participate in friendly matches.
This decision is part of FIFA’s strategy to support Afghan women’s football in the current challenging circumstances.
However, this initiative does not yet address the demands of Afghan female players for official recognition of the national team and participation in global competitions.
The Afghan women’s national football team has been barred from official competitions since the Taliban regained power.
FIFA has stated that it is in direct contact with the players and is working to initiate the activities of this team as soon as possible.
Despite the Taliban’s ban on women’s sports, FIFA has not officially suspended the Afghan football federation.
