Saudi Arabia’s air defences have intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired towards the capital, Riyadh, by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition has said.
Turki al-Maliki said the missile was intercepted at about 04:00 local time on Friday, 23 October.
He also said Saudi air defences had intercepted and destroyed two drones heading towards the kingdom’s southern regions earlier in the day.
The incidents come amid rising tensions in the region and continued threats from missile and drone attacks. Saudi authorities have not reported any casualties or damage from the latest interception.
