Amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf says Iran has strengthened its ability to withstand US military pressure.
Qalibaf said the US had concluded during the 40-day war that military action could not inflict significant damage on Iran. He claimed Washington had therefore shifted its focus towards weakening Iran’s internal security.
According to Qalibaf, the US is now placing greater emphasis on economic pressure and efforts to undermine Iran’s domestic security.
Qalibaf has previously described US sanctions and pressure on Iran as a continuation of Washington’s long-standing strategy, warning that continued pressure could push Tehran towards military action.
The comments come as the US has increased economic pressure and sanctions on Iran, drawing strong reactions from Iranian officials.
Tensions between Iran and the US remain high, with the possibility of further military action still a concern.
