Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif says the country’s military spokesperson, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, made clear allegations against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government during a press conference.
In a post on social media,Asif said those involved in facilitating “terrorism” could not hide behind politics.
He questioned why the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was not taking a stronger role in the fight against terrorism and called for greater focus on strengthening the police rather than creating confusion over the issue.
Asif said the military had sent a clear message to the provincial government that “this cannot continue”.
He added that the state was his priority, arguing that politics and democracy could exist only if the state remained intact.
