Mullah Shirin, the Taliban governor of Kandahar, has rejected a claim by Pakistan’s military that a meeting involving armed groups was held in the province, describing it as “baseless”.

Pakistan’s military had claimed that the meeting took place in Kandahar on 26 August under Mullah Shirin’s leadership, with representatives of several armed groups attending.

However, Pakistan has not provided independent evidence to support the claim. The Taliban said the allegations were aimed at justifying Pakistan’s recent attacks in Afghanistan.
