Four killed after car crashes into pro-government gathering in Iran
Four people have been killed and more than 10 others injured after a car crashed into a gathering of supporters of Iran’s government and armed forces in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
Iranian media reported that the car was travelling at high speed when it first collided with another vehicle. The driver then lost control before the car struck safety barriers and traffic signs and veered into the crowd.
The driver was arrested, according to local traffic police. Initial investigations indicated that he was not in a normal condition at the time of the incident, although authorities did not provide further details.
There was no immediate indication of a political motive, and Iranian authorities described the incident as a traffic accident.
