Tehran Rejects Ceasefire Plan Brought by Iraqi PM on Behalf of Trump

According to The New York Times, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi carried a proposal from US President Donald Trump to Iranian leaders during his visit to Tehran, citing Iranian and Iraqi officials. Al-Zaidi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials to discuss regional developments and diplomatic efforts. Iranian officials told the newspaper that Tehran is not interested in an interim agreement that leaves the final status of the Strait of Hormuz unresolved. The Iraqi prime minister’s office said the visit was aimed at advancing dialogue and promoting regional stability, while reaffirming that Iraqi territory would not be used to launch attacks against Iran. The visit came days after al-Zaidi held talks with President Trump in Washington, where the two sides signed a series of economic and trade agreements.
