Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry says Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and US President Donald Trump discussed bilateral relations and regional developments during a phone call. In a statement issued on Saturday, the ministry said the two leaders reviewed the latest developments in the region, including ongoing talks between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The statement added that both sides stressed the importance of ensuring maritime security, safeguarding international shipping routes, and supporting efforts aimed at strengthening regional security and stability. The phone call comes amid renewed tensions between the United States and Iran, following recent exchanges of attacks between the two countries. Saudi Arabia was among the regional countries targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks during the US-Israel conflict with Iran. However, during the latest escalation, Iran has not targeted US military bases or facilities in the kingdom.
