Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has welcomed the holding of this year’s nationwide university entrance examination and congratulated young people who have gained admission to higher education institutions. Karzai encouraged successful candidates to continue pursuing knowledge and strive for academic excellence, describing education as essential for Afghanistan’s progress and development. Expressing deep regret over the absence of girls from the entrance examination, Karzai stressed the importance of access to education for all Afghans. He said he hoped schools and universities would soon reopen their doors to girls, allowing them to continue their studies. The former president said Afghanistan’s future development depends on the knowledge and expertise of all its citizens, including both women and men.
