U.S. President Donald Trump has arrived in Ankara to attend the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, where he was officially welcomed at the airport by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The summit, hosted in the Turkish capital, is expected to focus on increasing defence investment, expanding production capacity, and strengthening the defence industries of NATO member states, according to Türkiye’s state-run Anadolu Agency. Under the official programme, NATO leaders are scheduled to convene at the Turkish Presidential Complex on 8 July. A series of separate meetings involving NATO defence and foreign ministers is also taking place at the venue ahead of the leaders’ session. NATO has announced that a major joint declaration outlining the alliance’s priorities and key decisions will be issued at the conclusion of the summit. Anadolu Agency also reported that several high-level forums on defence industry cooperation will be held on the sidelines of the meeting. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are among the leaders expected to deliver addresses during the event.
