Pakistan Sends Strong Message to India Over Water Dispute

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warned that Pakistan is prepared to respond “on every front” if its water rights under the Indus Waters Treaty are threatened. The statement came after India reiterated that the treaty would remain suspended until Pakistan takes what New Delhi described as credible and permanent steps to end support for cross-border terrorism. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Pakistan would take all necessary measures to protect its water rights and national interests. The ongoing dispute over the Indus Waters Treaty has further increased tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, with water security and regional stability at the centre of the disagreement.
