US President Donald Trump has appointed Stephen Miller as his new White House chief of staff, following weeks of efforts by his wife, Katie Miller, to secure support from the president’s allies.
According to Politico, Katie Miller held talks in recent weeks with several people close to President Trump, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and figures close to Vice-President JD Vance, asking them to support her husband as the successor to Susie Wiles.
Trump announced on Friday that Stephen Miller would replace Ms Wiles as White House chief of staff. He is expected to take up the position on Monday, while Ms Wiles is set to leave the role after nearly two years in the post.
