Israeli President Isaac Herzog has expressed concern over US President Donald Trump’s decision to halt American military aid to Israel, saying the move came as a complete surprise to him.
Speaking during a meeting with representatives of the Yashar party, led by former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, Herzog said he was taken aback by reports that the US would stop providing military assistance to Israel.
Herzog said maintaining close ties with the United States remained crucial for Israel, amid uncertainty over Washington’s future military support for the country.
