The eighth Moscow Format consultation meeting on Afghanistan is being held in Moscow on Monday, with Afghanistan, Pakistan and several other regional countries taking part.
Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan, Sadiq Khan, and the country’s ambassador to Kabul are attending as part of Pakistan’s delegation.
Ahead of the meeting, Khan held talks with Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Iran’s director-general for South Asia, on recent regional developments.
The meeting comes as relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan face renewed security and border tensions.
Participants are expected to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, regional security and cooperation among countries in the region.
