Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday, 4 October, that Israel would strengthen its naval capabilities during a visit to an Israeli Navy base in Ashdod.
Netanyahu said Israel needed additional equipment and capabilities to strengthen its naval forces.
He said the maritime domain had become an international battlefield, warning that Israel’s enemies were seeking to threaten its maritime space in the Mediterranean, as well as its ports and shipping routes.
He said a sixth submarine had arrived in Israel and that security officials were seeking additional submarines, ships and other equipment.
Netanyahu said Israel aimed to become one of the world’s leading countries in naval warfare and undersea operations.
