Houthis claim strike on Saudi energy facility as Yemen fighting intensifies

Yemen’s Houthi rebels say they have carried out a missile and drone attack on an energy facility belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco in the capital, Riyadh.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said the attack was carried out in response to Saudi-led strikes on Sanaa and other parts of Yemen. He also claimed that the attack caused a fire at the site.

Witnesses in Riyadh reported seeing smoke and flames near an Aramco facility in the south of the capital. However, Saudi authorities and Aramco have not officially confirmed that the facility was hit.

The claims come as fighting between the Houthis and forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognised government has intensified.
