Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are preparing for an urgent meeting of their military chiefs following an increase in attacks by the Houthis.
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry said the meeting would be held under the framework of the three countries’ defence agreement and would discuss ways to support Saudi Arabia in response to recent attacks.
The foreign ministers of the three countries met in New York on Thursday and discussed arrangements for the meeting of their military chiefs.
Under the defence agreement, an attack on one of the three countries is considered an attack on all three.
The developments follow Saudi Arabia’s announcement that its air defences had intercepted six ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis. The Houthis have also claimed missile and drone attacks against targets in Saudi Arabia.
