US Vice President JD Vance has said that the war between the United States and Iran will enter a “much different phase” in the coming months.
In an interview with the New York Post, Vance said he could not predict exactly how the conflict would develop, but agreed with President Donald Trump’s assessment that the war would change significantly in the coming months.
Vance said the US sees the conflict as having two phases. He said the first phase, focused on targeting Iran’s nuclear programme, weakening its conventional military capabilities and reducing its ability to project power in the region, had been completed.
He said the second phase would focus on preventing Iran from rebuilding its military capabilities and maintaining global stability. Vance did not provide details on when the next phase would begin or what specific measures it would involve.
