Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the war with Russia could continue into the winter, following talks with US President Donald Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The two US envoys had earlier met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow as part of Washington’s efforts to end the conflict. Zelenskyy described the discussions as positive but said no final agreement had been reached.
He said Ukraine would continue to rely on support from its European allies if the war extends into the winter.
Witkoff has said both sides would need to be prepared to make compromises for a peace agreement to be reached.
The White House and the Kremlin say several proposals for ending the war have been discussed, but Russia’s demands over territory in eastern Ukraine remain a major obstacle.
